Regulations

There seems to be regulations for everything nowadays, but in the case of fires, stoves and range cookers this is not without good reasons. These regulations are all safety based and come from the unfortunate experience of others… so we are quite keen on the regulations.

Many people seem to think that you can just put a wood burner into any position in a house but failure to take into account the right ventilation, safe distances from joists, and correct hearth sizes, can have catastrophic consequences. That’s where we come in.

We know the regulations, and can be sure that all our installations are carried out to the highest standard and conform to the relevant governing body.

For your convenience we have outlined the main regulations affecting our products below:

HETAS:

HETAS is the official body recognised by government to approve solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services. Its work in approving products covers boilers, cookers, open fires, stoves and room heaters. It is important that solid fuel and wood burning appliances are properly installed, regularly maintained and correctly operated and that chimneys, flue and hearths are up to standard.

CORGI:

Corgi is the official body for all gas appliances. To be Corgi registered you must complete rigorous training and examination and all of our engineers have reached certain levels of this certification. Owen is our main gas service engineer, with Marcus and Adam closely following on the installation side. All gas appliances, when installed, must be to both manufacturer and Corgi standard. Corgi must then be notified of the installation.

Building Regulations:

Document J:- Document J covers the building regulations for installations of solid fuel, gas and oil appliances. This document covers hearths, chimneys, distances from combustible materials and many more aspects that are involved with installation. Every installation that we complete is done to these standards.

OFTEC:

Oftec is the official body governing oil installations. Much the same as Hetas and Corgi it regulates all aspects of oil installations to make sure they are safe and up to standard.
